Residents of Voronezh endured a night of explosions and smoke after a large-scale drone attack hit the city and surrounding oblast on the night of October 25. The strike targeted critical industrial infrastructure, leaving fires burning at multiple sites and damaging residential buildings across the region.

Aleksandr Gusev, the Governor of Voronezh Oblast, confirmed to Interfax that air defense units intercepted 113 drones in total. He reported that more than 70 of these were downed directly over the city, while the remaining 43 were intercepted in the wider urban area and nearby districts. Gusev described the incidents as having no significant consequences, a characterization that contrasts with the extensive damage reported by local media and OSINT channels.

Ukrainian OSINT groups Supernova+ and Exilenova+ identified the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO) and the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant as primary targets. VASO, part of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex, manufactures components for the Il-96 jet airliner. The rubber facility, owned by the Sibur group, produces synthetic rubbers and polymer materials used in industrial applications.

Russian outlet Astra documented specific impact sites, including the Galereya Chizhova business centre at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. Explosions were also recorded near residential buildings at 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street. At a car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street, at least ten vehicles were engulfed in flames.

Gusev listed additional sites where fires started, including an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He noted that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city. Residents reported hearing continuous explosions and the sound of air defense operations for over an hour, with no formal air-raid warning issued before the strikes began.

The attack represents one of the most intense aerial engagements in the region in recent weeks. The high volume of intercepted drones suggests a coordinated launch designed to saturate local air defense systems. Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of damage to public and private property.
